Toxic Crusaders(1991)

Toxic Crusaders is a 13-episode animated series loosely adapted from the 1984 cult film The Toxic Avenger. Set in the fictional New Jersey town of Tromaville, the show follows Toxie, a grotesque mutant with superhuman powers who fights for justice despite his monstrous appearance. Unlike the films, his sentient mop becomes a sidekick that battles enemies and offers strategic advice. Toxie faces off against ecological villains from the planet Smogula—including the ruthless Dr. Killemoff and Czar Zosta—who partner with Tromaville's corrupt mayor to pollute the town. The series blends dark humor with environmental themes as Toxie and his unlikely allies defend their community from extraterrestrial threats. Created by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, the show captures the irreverent spirit of its source material while adding absurdist twists.
