The Forest Rangers(1963)

The Forest Rangers is a Canadian television series that aired from 1963 to 1965 and made history as Canada's first show produced entirely in colour. A co-production between CBC Television and ITC Entertainment, it ran for three seasons with 104 half-hour episodes. Executive producer Maxine Samuels created the series, which followed young forest rangers in their outdoor adventures. Early episodes were serialized within CBC's children's program Razzle Dazzle, hosted by Alan Hamel and Michelle Finney. The show marked Gordon Pinsent's major television debut before he departed in 1965 to star in Quentin Durgens, M.P. Filmed near Kleinburg, Ontario, The Forest Rangers developed a devoted following that reunited decades later, with cast members gathering in 2004 and 2013 to celebrate the series' legacy. The first season was released on DVD by Imavision in 2007.
