The Rag Trade(1961)

The Rag Trade is a British sitcom that aired on the BBC from 1961 to 1963, then returned on ITV's LWT between 1977 and 1978. Written by Ronald Wolfe and Ronald Chesney, the comedy centres on Fenner Fashions, a small London clothing workshop where female workers constantly clash with management. Led by firebrand shop steward Paddy Fleming—famous for her rallying cry "Everybody out!"—the women are always ready to strike. The original cast featured Sheila Hancock, Esma Reese Cannon, Wanda Ventham and Barbara Windsor. When LWT revived the series in 1977, stars reprised their roles alongside newcomers Anna Karen and future EastEnders actress Gillian Taylforth. Most scripts for the revival drew from the original BBC episodes, keeping the spirit of workplace chaos and industrial humour alive.
