Dongsi Pailou Dong is a Chinese historical series spanning the 1920s to 1940s, following Beile Halan, a playful and cowardly nobleman from the fallen Qing Dynasty. When Halan obtains a secret map to imperial tomb treasures, his carefree life takes a dramatic turn. Born in 1909 within a crumbling palace in the capital, Halan grew up alongside his childhood sweetheart Xiao Yuelou. During his time as a study companion in the imperial court, he developed a passion for fine cuisine and formed a close friendship with the renowned Godly Cook Xie. As Halan navigates the dangerous world of treasure hunting and political intrigue, his cowardly nature clashes with the stakes of his newfound quest, blending humor with the darker realities of China's tumultuous final imperial years.
