CI5: The New Professionals is a 1998 reimagining of the cult British spy series, expanding the premise to a global stage. Now jointly funded by the UK, USA, Japan, Germany, and France, the international intelligence agency tackles terrorism and espionage across borders. The ensemble cast includes a former US Navy SEAL and a British secret service operative as field agents, alongside a cantankerous commanding officer and a Canadian-trained female agent skilled in martial arts and computer systems. While the show promised fresh energy for the franchise, it struggled to find an audience and was cancelled after a single season, failing to recapture the appeal of its predecessor.
