The Restless Gun(1957)

The Restless Gun is a western television series that aired on NBC from 1957 to 1959, following Vint Bonner, a wandering gunfighter played by John Payne in the post-Civil War era. Despite his skill with a gun, Bonner is an idealistic man who seeks peaceful solutions to conflict whenever possible. Intelligent and public-spirited, he drifts through the frontier helping those in need. The half-hour black-and-white program ran for seventy-eight episodes, with actress Jeanne Bates appearing in five episodes alongside Payne. The series theme song, likely composed by Paul Dunlap, opens with the iconic line: "I ride with the wind, my eyes on the sun, and my hand on my restless gun.
