Kappatoo(1990)

Kappatoo is a British children's series based on Ben Steed's book, starring Denise Van Outen. The show follows Kappatoo, who travels from the past to the present day to swap places with his identical time twin, Simon Cashmere, hoping to gain an unfair advantage in a futuristic sports competition. While Kappatoo takes Simon's place in the far future, Simon must navigate life in Kappatoo's historical world. The series premiered on CITV in 1990, with a second series following in 1992. Produced by Worldwide International TV for Tyne Tees Television, Kappatoo was filmed at Heaton Manor School in Newcastle upon Tyne, using the school's authentic uniforms. The show relied on practical effects, including a notable scene where Kappatoo freezes time with extras moving around the frozen moment.
