Destry(1964)

Destry is a Western series starring John Gavin that aired on ABC from February to May 1964. The show draws from the classic James Stewart film Destry Rides Again, following Harrison Destry, son of the original lawman Tom Destry. After being framed for a crime and imprisoned, Harrison is released and travels the West seeking those who wronged him. Like his father, Harrison avoids violence whenever possible, yet finds himself constantly embroiled in trouble. His reluctance to use force despite dangerous situations creates comedic tension throughout the series. Destry ran for only thirteen episodes, struggling to find an audience as Western popularity began to decline in the early 1960s. The cast included guest stars Chris Alcaide, Ron Hayes, Roger Mobley, Stuart Randall, and Barbara Stuart.
