Wichita Town(1959)

Wichita Town is a half-hour western series that aired on NBC from September 1959 to April 1960, starring Joel McCrea as Marshal Mike Dunbar, the lawman tasked with maintaining order in the frontier town of Wichita, Kansas. McCrea's real-life son Jody plays deputy Ben Matheson, while Carlos Romero rounds out the law enforcement team as deputy Rico Rodriquez. The cast includes recurring roles for the town doctor, blacksmith, and saloon bartender. Though the series followed the established template of popular westerns like Gunsmoke and Lawman, it distinguished itself through McCrea's star power—a veteran of classic western films including Union Pacific and Buffalo Bill—and the novelty of father and son working together on screen without playing related characters.
