The New Archie and Sabrina Hour(1977)

The New Archie and Sabrina Hour is the final animated series from the Filmation/Archie Comics partnership, premiering on NBC in September 1977. The show mixed reruns from The Archie Show with new segments starring Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, arranged in three segments per episode separated by musical interludes. NBC programming chief Fred Silverman, who had launched The Archie Show for CBS nearly a decade earlier, hoped the format would revive the network's Saturday morning lineup. Poor ratings forced a swift retool by October. The hourlong format split into two separate 30-minute shows: Archie's Bang Shang Lollapalooza Show, where Archie and friends solved mysteries in Riverdale, and Superwitch, featuring Sabrina using her magical abilities to crack cases. Neither spin-off gained traction, and both were cancelled by spring 1978, ending the creative partnership between Filmation and Archie Comics.
