Akkara Kazhchakal(2008)

Akkara Kazhchakal is a Malayalam sitcom that aired on Kairali TV from 2008 to 2010, following a middle-class Malayali family navigating life in the United States. Created by Abi Varghese and Ajayan Venugopalan, the fifty-episode series is widely regarded as the first true Malayalam sitcom and earned praise for its sharp social commentary and satirical humour grounded in authentic cultural detail. Josekutty Valiyakallumkal's performance as patriarch George Thekkinmoottil became particularly iconic. The show gained significant traction after its creators uploaded the entire series to YouTube, breaking conventional broadcasting practices at the time. Its success spawned a feature film, Akkarakazhchakal: The Movie, which was distributed directly through the show's website. The series remains a landmark in Malayalam television comedy.
