Campion is a BBC television series adapting Margery Allingham's classic mystery novels. Peter Davison stars as the urbane detective Albert Campion, alongside Brian Glover as his loyal manservant Magersfontein Lugg and Andrew Burt as his police contact Stanislaus Oates. The show ran for two series in 1989 and 1990, bringing eight of Allingham's novels to the screen—four per series. Each adaptation was split across two hour-long episodes, allowing room for the intricate plots and period atmosphere that define the source material. Davison performed the title theme for the first series; the second replaced it with an instrumental version. The production captures the wit and sophistication of Allingham's detective fiction, blending mystery with character-driven storytelling set in mid-twentieth-century England.
