Jul i Skomakergata is a Norwegian television advent calendar that aired daily from December 1 to 24, first broadcast in 1979. The series follows Jens Petrus Andersen, a shoe repairer played by Henki Kolstad, as friends and townspeople visit his shop seeking repairs before Christmas. Each episode weaves together gentle humor, community warmth, and educational segments featuring Sandmännchen, which introduces children to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The show became a beloved fixture of Norwegian television, treasured for its blend of festive charm and social messaging. In 2006, comedian Zahid Ali created Jul i Tøyengata, a multicultural parody set on an Oslo street that addresses racism and cultural tensions while honoring the original's spirit.
