Welcome to Beirais(2013)

Welcome to Beirais is a Portuguese drama series following Diogo Almada, a burned-out telecommunications executive whose high-pressure career catches up with him when he suffers a stroke. Forced to reassess his life, Diogo makes a radical decision: he abandons his corporate job and buys a vegetable and herb farm in Beirais, a quiet village in Portugal's interior. His girlfriend Teresa refuses to follow him, unwilling to leave Lisbon and the urban lifestyle she's built. Alone in his new rural reality, Diogo must navigate the harsh realities of farming and small-town living while wrestling with his past and his fractured relationship. The series explores themes of burnout, reinvention, and the collision between ambition and authenticity as one man attempts to rebuild his life from scratch.
