Norakuro(1970)

Norakuro is a Japanese animated series following a scrappy black-and-white stray dog who stumbles into the Mokenrentai, an Imperial army brigade of white dogs locked in war against an enemy Monkey Army. Enlisted as a bumbling Private Second-Class, Norakuro navigates military life with charm and chaos. The series adapts the original manga with reasonable faithfulness, though it introduces an original character: Miko, an army nurse who becomes the object of Norakuro's affection. The show balances comedy with wartime adventure, capturing the comedic misadventures of an unlikely soldier. Nobuyo Ooyama provides the voice for Norakuro—the same actor who would later gain international recognition voicing Doraemon.
