The Secret Service is a 1969 British children's espionage series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. It was the final Supermarionation production from Century 21, blending puppet animation with live-action footage to heighten realism. Father Stanley Unwin, a rural English parish priest voiced by comedian Father Stanley Unwin himself, leads a double life as a secret agent for BISHOP, a covert British Intelligence branch. Alongside junior operative Matthew Harding, Unwin tackles international criminal and terrorist threats while answering to his superior, simply known as The Bishop. The clever conceit plays on Unwin's dual roles—priest and spy—both answering to authority figures bearing the same title. The series balances adventure and dry wit across its run.
