Brimstone is a supernatural drama series that follows a dead police detective tasked with hunting down 113 escaped spirits and returning them to Hell. The Fox series aired for just one partial season before cancellation, but found new life in reruns across cable networks. Beginning in summer 1999, Syfy picked up the show and has aired it sporadically ever since, often bundling episodes into marathons during seasonal programming blocks like Creatureland and the 31 Days of Halloween. Chiller also began broadcasting reruns from 2007 onward, maintaining a similar approach with occasional weekday marathons. Despite its brief original run, Brimstone developed a cult following among genre fans who appreciated its blend of crime procedural and supernatural horror elements.
