The Silent Service(2024)

The Silent Service is a Japanese thriller series following a catastrophic collision between a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force submarine and a U.S. nuclear sub that kills 76 people, including commanding officer Shiro Kaieda. The accident, however, masks a covert operation: the surviving crew is reassigned to the Seabat, a nuclear submarine jointly built in secret by Japan and the United States. When Kaieda unexpectedly seizes control of the vessel, loads it with nuclear missiles, and initiates a mutiny, he sets off an international crisis. The series explores the tension between military loyalty, national security, and one man's dangerous ambitions as both governments scramble to contain the threat.
