The Next Step Beyond(1978)

The Next Step Beyond is a supernatural anthology series that revives the classic paranormal format of the original One Step Beyond. Hosted once again by John Newland, each episode dramatizes purportedly true accounts of hauntings, cryptids, and unexplained phenomena. The series maintains the documentary-style approach of its 1950s–60s predecessor, staging elaborate recreations of mysterious events. Despite the familiar framework and Newland's return, The Next Step Beyond failed to capture the original's audience appeal and was cancelled after a single season. The show represents an attempt to recapture the eerie, investigative tone that made the earlier series a cult favourite, though it ultimately couldn't sustain viewer interest in its contemporary run.
