Head of the Class(1986)

Head of the Class is an American sitcom that aired on ABC from 1986 to 1991. The series centers on a group of gifted students in the Individualized Honors Program at a Manhattan high school and their witty history teacher, Charlie Moore, played by David Hesseman. The show balances classroom humor with the dynamics of exceptional teenagers navigating academics and adolescence. Hesseman, known for his role as Dr. Johnny Fever on WKRP in Cincinnati, departed after the 1989–90 season and was replaced by Billy Connolly as teacher Billy MacGregor for the final year. Created by Rich Eustis and Michael Elias, the series drew on Eustis's experience as a New York City substitute teacher. The show's success led to a brief spin-off centered on Connolly's character.
