The Last Salute(1998)

The Last Salute is a British comedy series set in 1961, following hapless AA patrolman Harry Thorpe as he navigates the rigid customs of roadside motoring assistance. Harry's job requires him to salute every passing motorist bearing an AA badge, but his real struggle lies with his overbearing superior, Inspector Leonard Spanwick, who complicates matters by living in a caravan in Harry's back garden and pursuing a romance with Harry's sister Joyce. As Harry battles to keep his local branch competitive against the rival RAC organisation and recruit new members, he also grapples with the organisation's rapid modernisation. Caught between old-fashioned duty and contemporary change, Harry must find his footing in a world that's moving faster than he can keep pace with.
