Mann's Best Friends(1985)

Mann's Best Friends is a British comedy series following Henry Mann, who inherits The Laurels, a ramshackle establishment populated by eccentric residents. Among them are Duncan, a cantankerous alcoholic; Dolly Delights, a scheming blonde; and a crew of Chinese waiters. When retired Water Board official Hamish James Ordway arrives—a meddlesome busybody obsessed with "organisation"—Mann offers him free lodging in exchange for bringing order to the chaos. What unfolds is a clash of personalities as Ordway's fastidious methods collide with the residents' unruly ways, creating comedic mayhem at every turn. The series mines humor from the tension between Ordway's rigid control and the household's stubborn resistance to change.
