Portrait of a Scandalous Family chronicles the true story of the Şakir Paşa dynasty, an Ottoman family whose internal collapse in early 20th-century Istanbul produced some of the era's most celebrated artists. In 1911, retired military commander Şakir Paşa lives on Büyükada island when his eldest son Cevat returns from Oxford with an Italian wife.
