Militia Romance is a series set in autumn 2014 that follows Alexei Suvorov, an ambitious young Russian journalist seeking fortune and recognition. Traveling to Donbass on a humanitarian mission, Suvorov aims to interview militia battalion commander Lesentsov and sell the story to a German publication where he hopes to secure permanent employment. The journey tests his resolve as obstacles mount, forcing him into reckless decisions and dangerous situations that threaten his ambitions. Along the way, Suvorov encounters fellow travelers with conflicting perspectives on the conflict unfolding around them. The series balances personal ambition against the moral complexities of war reporting, exploring how idealism crumbles under real-world pressure.
