Snakes and Ladders(1989)

Snakes and Ladders is a British series set in a dystopian 1999 where the UK is divided by barbed wire into two starkly different regions. Northern Britain is cold and impoverished; Southern Britain is wealthy and comfortable. When Lord Tewkesbury, a powerful industrialist, sends his son Giles undercover to gain real-world experience, a clerical error lands Giles in the harsh north doing manual labor. Meanwhile, Gavin, a struggling northerner, is transferred south by mistake. The mix-up forces both men to navigate unfamiliar worlds, challenging their assumptions about class, privilege, and survival. As their paths diverge across the divided nation, Snakes and Ladders explores what happens when the privileged and the desperate swap places.
