Dona Anja(1996)

Dona Anja is a Brazilian telenovela that aired on SBT from December 1996 to April 1997, based on Josué Guimarães's novel and adapted by Cristianne Fridman and Yoya Wursch. Set in 1977 in rural Rio Grande do Sul, the series follows Anja Guimarães Castilhos, a woman who abandons her town's conservative traditions after her fiancé betrays her. She partners with Colonel Quineu to run a brothel, defying local society and championing women's independence. Caught between political turmoil, family rivalries, and personal vendettas, Anja fights to reclaim her freedom against mounting enemies.
