Children In Need(1980)
Children in Need is the BBC's annual charity telethon, broadcast live on BBC One each November from 7:30pm until 2am. Since 1980, the appeal has raised over £600 million to support disabled children and young people across the UK. The event features celebrity performances, entertainment segments, and on-air fundraising, with Pudsey Bear serving as the campaign's iconic mascot. Long-time presenter Terry Wogan has been instrumental in the telethon's success. Children in Need stands as one of Britain's most prominent charity broadcasts, alongside Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, though it remains the only telethon directly operated by the BBC. The appeal combines star-studded entertainment with genuine grassroots fundraising efforts, making it a cornerstone of UK charitable giving.
