Beyond the Heavens(2009)

Beyond the Heavens is a Japanese manga series that ran in Weekly Morning from 1994 to 2005, spanning 409 chapters across 36 volumes. Originally created by writer Hagin Yi and artist King Gonta, the series continued under Gonta's sole direction after Yi's death in 1998. The manga won the 22nd Kodansha Manga Award in the general category and was marketed in Japan as "Neo-Sangokushi"—a reimagining of the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms narrative. The series has never received an official English translation, though a 2007 color art compilation book adopted "Beyond the Heavens" as its English subtitle. In 2009, Madhouse adapted the manga into an anime series, bringing the epic tale to the screen.
