Maison close(2010)

Maison close is a French historical drama set in Paris during 1871, centered on the women working in a luxury brothel called Paradise. Young Rose arrives in the city searching for her mother, a former prostitute, only to be trapped and forced into the establishment herself. Vera, a 35-year-old sex worker nearing the end of her career, pins her hopes on the Baron Du Plessis, her wealthy patron and her only chance at freedom from debt. Hortense, the brothel's owner, struggles to protect her girls while fending off a violent extortionist demanding payment. The series explores the lives, ambitions, and survival strategies of these women navigating a dangerous world of exploitation and limited choices in post-Commune Paris.
