Rude Awakenings is a New Zealand comedy series following two neighbouring families in Auckland's Ponsonby suburb whose lives collide when the newly arrived Rush family moves into their renovated home next to the established Short family. Fresh from a lifestyle block in Kumeu, the Rushes quickly find themselves at odds with their neighbours, sparking a clash of personalities and values. Set against the backdrop of Auckland's fashionable inner-city living, the show explores the friction that erupts when different worlds literally live side by side, blending humour with the everyday tensions of suburban life.
