Barlow(1971)

Barlow at Large is a British crime drama that ran from 1971 to 1975 across four series and 29 episodes. Stratford Johns reprises his role as Detective Chief Inspector Charles Barlow, a character he'd played in Z-Cars and Softly, Softly. The series begins as a three-part spin-off in which Barlow is seconded by the Home Office to investigate police corruption in Wales. Johns left briefly in 1972 but returned the following year as Barlow took on a permanent Home Office posting. In 1974, the show was rebranded simply as Barlow and introduced Detective Inspector Tucker alongside the lead. The final episode aired in February 1975, after which Barlow appeared in the follow-up series Second Verdict, investigating cold cases and historical convictions alongside a former colleague.
