The McCarthys is a multi-camera comedy set in Boston, following a sports-obsessed family whose athletically challenged son Ronny is unexpectedly chosen by his father Arthur to be assistant high school basketball coach. Ronny had planned to leave the city, escape his tight-knit family, and explore the singles scene—but his father's surprising offer changes everything. Though his mother Marjorie supports Ronny's identity as a gay man, she's devastated at the thought of him leaving. Touched by Arthur's faith in him despite his lack of athletic prowess, Ronny stays put and discovers a new direction. His twin brothers Sean and Gerard, sister Jackie, and his outspoken, politically incorrect father ensure that every decision comes with plenty of family commentary and chaos.
