The Awl(2015)

The Awl is a Korean drama about ordinary workers fighting for justice against corporate exploitation. After his military service, Lee Soo-In takes a job at a large retail market, only to be ordered by his boss to fire temporary employees. Refusing to comply with what he sees as an unjust decision, Lee Soo-In joins the labor union and leads a struggle against unfair dismissals. The series follows how individual workers unite as a team to confront a powerful employer in a David-versus-Goliath battle. Based on a webtoon inspired by real events, The Awl draws from the 2002 Carrefour supermarket dispute, when union workers were wrongfully terminated and fought back. The drama captures the courage and solidarity required to stand up for workers' rights.
