Downshifters follows a successful couple in their thirties who hit a financial crisis and must abandon their luxury lifestyle to escape mounting debt. Forced to relocate to a modest rented apartment in the suburbs, they face the harsh reality of downward mobility. Yet they maintain appearances with their social circle, spinning their dramatic fall as a deliberate choice to downshift—a trendy rejection of materialism. The series explores the gap between public persona and private struggle, examining how pride and social pressure complicate their path to financial recovery. What begins as a temporary setback becomes a reckoning with the values that defined them.
