Canned Carrott(1990)

Canned Carrott is a British comedy sketch show headlined by stand-up Jasper Carrott. The series features two signature sketches that became fan favourites. "Wiggy" is a silent slapstick piece about a man with an ill-fitting hairpiece, styled after Mr. Bean and The Benny Hill Show, where a narrator carries the comedy. "The Detectives" proved far more popular, following bumbling police officers Briggs and Louis as they bungle their way through cases while mimicking TV crime dramas they've watched too many times. The sketch's success spawned its own full series. The show also launched the careers of Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, who went on to create their own sketch series, The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show, which ran for two seasons. Canned Carrott showcases the absurdist humour that defined British comedy in the 1980s.
