The Leader(2011)

The Leader is a historical drama set in 1918 Damascus, during the turbulent period between the Ottoman Empire's collapse and French colonial rule. Six neighborhoods of the city must unite behind a single leader, but competing ambitions and deep-rooted rivalries quickly ignite. As factions clash over who will hold power, the fragile attempt at self-governance unravels into conflict. The series explores themes of authority, community, and the struggle for control during a pivotal moment in Syrian history, when the city's future hangs in the balance and old alliances prove dangerously unstable.
