The Republic(1998)

The Republic chronicles the founding of modern Turkey through intimate personal dramas. As İzmir celebrates military victory, Latife Hanım's feelings for Mustafa Kemal intensify while she welcomes his mother, Zübeyde Hanım, into her household. Simultaneously, at Çankaya Mansion, the ailing Fikriye Hanım conceals her deteriorating health from Mustafa Kemal until she's sent away to a sanatorium.
