New World(2020)

New World is a Chinese drama series set in Beiping during the 22 days before the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The story follows three brothers—Jin Hai, Tie Lin, and Xu Tian—as their lives transform amid historic upheaval. When policeman Xu Tian investigates his fiancée's murder, the case pulls him into the liberation movement sweeping the city. As the brothers face conflicting ideologies and seismic political change, their bond fractures and they choose diverging paths. Xu Tian's investigation intersects with Tian Dan, a communist activist, and the two find common purpose during their darkest hours. New World captures a pivotal moment in Chinese history through the lens of personal loss, loyalty, and the impossible choices ordinary people must make when the world shifts beneath their feet.
