Automata(2018)

Automata is a noir series set in an alternate 1930s Prohibition-era New York City, where sentient robots—called automatons—are banned from future production and forced to live as a persecuted underclass. Former NYPD detective Sam Regal, now a private investigator, partners with Carl Swangee, a highly intelligent automaton, to solve crimes while navigating a dystopian America rife with prejudice and strict laws. As the two work cases together, they grapple with their differences and build an unlikely friendship. The series blends classic detective storytelling with science fiction, exploring themes of discrimination, civil rights, and what it means to be human in a world that fears artificial intelligence.
