Bony is an Australian television series from 1992 that follows Detective David John Bonaparte, a half-Aboriginal investigator working under the guidance of his mentor, Uncle Albert. The 13-episode run continues from a 1990 telemovie and draws from Arthur Upfield's long-running crime novels, which introduced the character in the late 1920s. The series faced significant criticism for its casting choice, with actor Cameron Daddo playing the title role alongside Burnham Burnham as Uncle Albert. Despite its literary heritage and Australian setting, Bony struggled to capture the spirit of Upfield's original detective stories, which spanned decades and established the character as an iconic figure in crime fiction.
