High Risk(1988)

High Risk is a CBS reality series that premiered in 1988 as a strike replacement during the Writers Guild of America labor dispute. Unable to produce scripted programming, the network assembled this in-house production to fill airtime with unscripted content. The show featured high-risk occupations and stunts, following Border Patrol agents, repo men, cave explorers, and roller-coaster testers as they performed their dangerous work. Hosted by Wayne Rogers, High Risk was intended as a two-year commitment but faced immediate and widespread criticism. Despite plans for a longer run, the series was cancelled after just one broadcast, making it one of television's shortest-lived programs.
