Zen Master follows Ji Lu, a eccentric Buddhist monk in Song Dynasty China who becomes known as Ji Gong. Operating in the troubled city of Lin'an during a period of political and social unrest, Ji Gong defies monastic rules while performing miraculous healings and helping those in need. Despite his spiritual prowess and magical abilities, he struggles with human emotion and desire. Determined to understand love, Ji Gong breaks through his spiritual barriers in pursuit of romantic connection, only to discover the painful consequences of his choice. The series blends historical drama with spiritual conflict as the unconventional monk navigates the tension between his divine calling and earthly longings.
