Markizas ir piemenaitė is a Lithuanian wartime drama following a French pilot shot down near the Nemunas River during World War II. Injured and stranded in a village, pilot Andrė finds shelter in a miller's home, where he's nursed back to health by the miller's young bride, Saulė. The two fall in love, but their bond is tested when Andrė's squadron arrives to reclaim him. Five years after the war ends, Saulė remains haunted by his memory, clinging to hope despite reports of his death. The film explores themes of love, loss, and the lasting wounds of conflict across borders and time.
