Code of the Prairie is a Western film set just after the Oklahoma Panhandle's annexation into the United States. An ex-lawman turned newspaper editor arrives in town determined to bring civilization to the lawless frontier, accompanied by Frog, a photographer, and Sunset Carson, who serves as hired muscle. When local criminals and corrupt interests learn that Carson is being positioned for sheriff, they band together to stop him. The seedy elements of the territory resist law and order at every turn, setting up a clash between those seeking to tame the wild frontier and those profiting from its chaos. The film captures the tension of a region in transition, caught between its outlaw past and an ordered future.
