Policeman's Diary is a Japanese film that expands the boundaries of police work far beyond the badge. The officers at a local station spend their days lending money, helping civilians find jobs, and caring for children—duties rarely found in any official handbook. When patrolman Yoshii discovers an abandoned baby and a six-year-old girl abandoned outside the station, he faces rejection from welfare, orphanages, and clinics. Unable to turn them away, Yoshii takes on an unexpected responsibility: raising them himself.
