Torment(1944)

Torment is a Swedish drama that follows Jan-Erik Widgren, a lonely schoolboy who becomes entangled with Bertha Olsson, a troubled woman battling alcoholism. Though Bertha is already involved with Caligula, Jan-Erik's sadistic teacher, she pursues a relationship with the boy anyway. When Caligula discovers their affair, he unleashes a campaign of psychological torment against his student, reserving his most brutal cruelty for Bertha. The teacher's obsessive jealousy and manipulation spiral toward tragedy, trapping both victims in a web of abuse and despair.
