Lovely Trash(2019)

Lovely Trash is a magical-realist film set against the backdrop of Iran's 2009 presidential election protests. An elderly woman faces an impossible task: she has one night to purge her home of politically dangerous family artifacts before authorities arrive. Her deceased husband, executed brother, and two martyred sons—trapped in their picture frames—return to life to help her. As she navigates this surreal night, the film weaves together grief, resistance, and dark humor, exploring how ordinary people protect their memories and identities under political repression.
