Payday follows country singer Maury Dann, a charismatic but reckless performer who lives for excess. Touring the rural South with his manager, driver, and long-suffering girlfriend, Maury seduces groupies, starts fights, and breaks the law—confident his charm and talent will shield him from consequences. His team scrambles to cover his tracks while he alienates everyone who supports him. As Maury hurtles toward self-destruction, the film captures a man too caught up in the fast lane to see the damage he's leaving behind.
