Entre l'arbre et l'écorce(2000)
Entre l'arbre et l'écorce is a French film about a young Parisian at odds with his father who flees to the provinces to stay with his uncle, who operates a sawmill. Seeking refuge from family conflict, the protagonist finds himself immersed in a world far removed from city life. The sawmill becomes a backdrop for self-discovery as he navigates the gap between his urban upbringing and the rural, working-class rhythms of his uncle's operation. The film explores themes of estrangement, belonging, and the clash between different ways of living. Through this displacement, the young man confronts both his relationship with his father and his own place in the world. The provincial setting and manual labor offer an unexpected path toward understanding and reconciliation.
