Seven Years in Tibet(1997)
At the end of the world his real journey began.
Seven Years in Tibet is a biographical drama following Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer, who embarks on a Himalayan expedition in 1939 seeking glory and adventure. When World War II erupts, the ambitious Harrer is captured by Allied forces and imprisoned. He escapes with a fellow POW and undertakes a perilous journey across treacherous terrain to Lhasa, Tibet. There he encounters the young 14-year-old Dalai Lama, and an unlikely friendship blossoms between them. Through this profound connection, the arrogant mountaineer undergoes a spiritual awakening that fundamentally reshapes his values and worldview. The film chronicles Harrer's transformation from self-centered explorer to a man humbled by compassion and wisdom, set against the backdrop of one of the world's most remote and sacred regions.
